The “Moving and Learning Outside” project is coming to its end. Under the coordination of Torres Vedras Municipality, the project was run for 30 months, gathering institutions from Portugal, Croatia, Estonia, Greece and Norway around the fight against children’s inactivity caused by the lack of time and space to play outdoors.
The working process of the partners led to the development of pedagogical tools that aim to start this project’s methodology in kindergartens, taking part of the goals and the educational intention of preschool institutions. The file with Outdoor Activities Guidelines and Recommendations for Preschool Education is available in English, as well as in all the languages of the partner countries, while the Final Results Report is available in English. Check the files here.
The experiences shared amongst the different organizations, the research developed by the universities and the experiences carried out through the project originated changes in the pedagogic practices of the kindergartens involved, looking to the outdoor as a privileged space for playing and learning for life.
“Moving and Learning Outside” started on the 15 October 2017, aiming to promote outdoor education through an approach based on playing and physical activity in preschools, creating a wide range of benefits that are crucial for the full development of kids.
The project was run within the scope of Erasmus+ program. The project partners were the Group of Schools Madeira Torres – Kindergarten Conquinha I and the Faculty of Human Kinetics of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), the Kindergarten Matije Gupca (Croatia), the Kindergarten Naba (Estonia), the ONG “Playing” (Greece) and the Queen Maud University College of Early Childhood Education (Norway).
